Overview

The Board of Regents has recently approved a Dual Degree Masters Program in Embedded Software to be administered jointly by the College of Computing and Korea University (KU), Seoul, South Korea. The College of Computing won the bid To run this program as a result of an open competition held by the Ministry of Information and Communication of the South Korean Government. The program is fully funded by the South Korean Government. The intent of the program is to re-train engineers already working in leading South Korean companies such as Samsung, LG, and KT in the area of embedded software. The students enrolled in the program will receive a Master degree in Computer Science specializing in embedded software upon completion of the Georgia Tech requirements. The requirements can be met by a combination of GT and KU courses. The actual delivery of the GT courses is a mix of our faculty going to the KU campus to teach in person as well as via distance education. Beyond the Masters program, the Korean Government is also keen to see the leading companies establish research collaboration with Georgia Tech. Thus the program not only offers an excellent opportunity for our faculty to get a cultural immersion for a semester by going to South Korea but also opens the door for potential research collaboration with leading South Korean companies.

Dr. Leo Mark, Director for International and Graduate Programs at the College of Computing and Dr. Umakishore Ramachandran, Director of Korean Programs for the College of Computing will oversee the programs operations, growth and future development.

GT-KU Welcome by Kishore Ramachandran, Director of Korean Programs.
